We are in the middle of Random Act of Kindness week, and I wanted to remind everyone that this is a special time to spread smiles all around you. So here are two of my favorite sites where you can turn to for inspiration:
We had a little excitement yesterday. I was sitting in my office, just daydreaming and writing some notes when I saw something fall from the sky and land on the road about a block from our house. Then something big and brown fell from the sky close to it. A big brown thing that hopped a few times, then raised its head and spread its wings. It was a huge bird. White head. Brown body. White tail feathers. It took a few seconds for it all to compute. There was a bald eagle standing on the road by our house. Continue reading

When I wrote about digital journaling, a couple of the arguments for using a keyboard are that (1) I can read what I type but I can’t read what I write and (2) my typing can keep up with the speed of my mind but my handwriting can’t. It turns out that I might have had an incorrect perspective.

I’ve been looking for a way to take my writing deeper, beyond the minutiae of daily life, to a place where I can explore all the changes going on with me. That’s a challenge, especially when you don’t know where to start.
